Sal Sardo's 70 GTO
This clean 70 GTO features a warmed over 455 with #64 heads that were
"touched" by Walter. With the 700R4 trans mated to the 12bolt 3.31
gears he gets the best of both worlds, stump pulling torque out of the hole and
highway speeds at a mere 2200rpm.
Update
2/12/03
The 455 was pulled in favor of a 6.80" rod
467 short block and a set of 300cfm Edelbrock heads that will run on pump gas.
The cam choice was a Comp hydraulic #51-225-4 (240/246 @ .050) to keep things
somewhat civil on the street with A/C. Using a set of IA headers to button up
the exhaust we headed to the local track. With a race weight of 3960lbs Sal was
able to persuade the 29.5" McCrery's to find some bite by feathering
the throttle. A best of 7.57 @ 90.68mph running out of fuel and going through
the traps in second gear at 5800rpm. Stay tuned for more updates.
